why? = Better finish and also the carpet will wear better. How? = Really hard to explain mate. Next time i do one i will post a picture. Infact, sod it. I will get you a picture now. My Mrs wont be happy tho.......... matt walks off to uplift his stair carpet!!!
gripper on tread and riser, and on the sides of the tread but not on the sides of the riser. Just thinking of all they h/s/l's i could have done better
Snob look at you with ya Cloud 9 and tram line border and on the 45, just for showin that you should spend the night in the garage infact I'm gonna give you a ring and ask you to pass the phone to ya misses and suggest she makes you sleep outside.LOL Nice one Matt never done it like that before, I do when doing the bullnose it never even occured to me to put it down the risers on the winders, I was always taught to cut oversize and wrap around behind itself.
ahhh, so its nailed/stapled from the tip of the stair nose and meets up with the gripper on the riser. Nice. I have never seen or done it in this way. i always just turn under the edges and tuck in. Is this just a preffered method or is it gospel?
To the standards, well no this does not need to be done. However, for a better finish then yes i would advice this. For starts when you simply bend the carpet back on itself it will slowly try and unwrap itself. Also you will have people kicking it etc. It will never stay looking the same as the day you fitted the carpet. With this method you are finishing off the edge of the steps securely but without the need for nails. You keep the front of the step tight also. Basically the whole job looks a lot better and as for meeting the standards, well your one step above the standards.
Im in double trouble, i cant find my stretcher to refit it! And yes i do need a stretcher as its about 1cm bloody short now its lost its stretch
