i lothe to critise any one's work but you do come across so real howlers, so i thought i would post a few i've seen. these were just todays
Out of interest ( I don't do carpets) is a stripey on a winding stair a bad idea or just needs a good fitter?
A perfect example of how not to do a striped carpet on the stairs. Love the grin through of floor boards in the vinyl LOL shockingly bad. I have done some repairs this week and last at chessington world of adventures and what an adventure that was, repairs of repairs that have been done over and over again to the point its just a bodge and I feel ashamed to say I to have had to hack and slash and do things which we would normally say NO WAY to. Steer clear of the rides there cause if their flooring maintenance is anything to go by I'm guessing that the rides are held together with gaffer tape. Nice pics Hobbit I'll post some latter of the SHARK tank we've been doing.
good grief howlers indeed  all carpets have to be installed 90degrees to the step with the pile running downwards that is some shocking stairs, hope no one here claims it as their own
don,t you find though that the customer doesn,t seem to say anything, and fitters who fit like that get away with it a lot.
To be fair the customer might be blind, then yeah they would get away with it. I know what you mean though mate, some of the latexing ive seen Amtico go down on! Ive put it straight on to a screed(for a shop I worked for) They said thats what the customer wants, they wont pay for latex and the screed is fine in thier opinion
that has prob got to be in my top 10 of bug bearers shops that just have a dis regard for doing the job properly grrrrr
the vinyl was just fitted as i said and the builder was still on site (not the fitter), but i was hired by the houseowner. i was going to say something but as the builder was built like a barn (and for those that have seen me know that i'am not) and didn't seem to be in a good mood, i decided to be a coward . on the winders didn't anyone notice the "set in" on the face of the kite winder. the customer knew it was a crap job, but "hey it only going be be down for about a year". As bladerunner say's these should have been properly fitted after all people paid good money for these. to think that i've been called back to cut of a rouge thread which the customers vac lifted and some hacker's get away with this quality of work and make some kind of living of it....(insert you own swear word) both these were pictured yesterday, i have others somewhere but i'll have find out how to resize them, i didn't relise how big they would come out
I might have lost a gig I've had for a few years with a local shed cos I refused to lay Karndean straight onto chipboard even though the customer wanted it done that way. I had the call about three weeks ago to ask and haven't heard from them since.
reckon ive lost countless jobs due to that very reason. end of the day its our names thats on the job. When it goes t1ts up, its us they'll blame not the shop. what a raw deal  w@nkers
that's the problem the retailers either want us to do the job right or they don't. its do it right but don't charge any more than quoted or bodge it and when the punter complains you replace it, and if you stick to your guns the retailer takes the hump and gives you s*#t work or stops calling.so the question is who is taking down the quality of fitting the fitters or the retailers?
