i would like it in my own home but its just to much trouble and not any where near as good as people think. Only really good for a secondary heat source. The electric version is also very expensive to run. Fitted plenty of floors on the stuff tho. Seen hundreds of failed floors fitted on it also
same here, laid a few of the pads minus the electrical. Done one the start of this year, customer wanted there carpet laid straight on the wiring. The carpet was like a fag paper, thin as. No way i was putting a stretcher near it. Told them they had to put down ulay first, then you have to consider the tog rating of the ulay,carpet etc. load of sh**e. Also you get the system that uses water like your central heating, not alowed to put anything into the screed as the pipes can be right at the surface in places. Whats wrong with stamping your feet and clapping your hands.
if they are installed correctly then you wont hit a pipe when nailing gripper etc. Then again you should really be gluing teh gripper anyway as the floor construction with insulation will cause the concrete to crack at the edges. As for the electric ones. They should also be sunk into a screed. For some reason there doesnt seem to be any sort of reg backing this up at the moment so they just get laid under the carpet with no protection. Really bad and i cant belive that BS, NICF, NICEIC etc have not stepped in appointed the many safety issues.
"correctly" this is bob the builder were talking about. Thing is i normally nail and glue when on solid floors (if poss). Asked the builder if the 14mm penetration would be a problem, his reply was "ehhhhhhhhh". So hot melted it as time was an issue. Dont like hot melt, think cold mastics are far better imo.
