I've been told that I'm to slow at fitting carpet, but I'm not so sure. On average how long do you think it should take to fit a 4x4 bedroom, no uptake, underlay and gripper, one doorplate, with a double bed in the room?

Take me 6 hours mate, I would try to fit it, then think I have forgotten cause its about 20 years since i fitted a carpet, so I would have a kip in the bed ;)

to do it to 'master fitter' quality then around 1-2 hours.

If a slap in down because i dont care about quality and getting paid by the meter then around 25-35 mins ?

Some types of carpet take a little longer and having a bed in there is a pain but it would take me 30 - 40 mins I reckon?

thought so, it takes me about 2 hours. The lad that said I was slow would think that 35 mins is slow  but then he'd rather throw a carpet down than fit it. :x pees me off too as he says I'm to much of a perfectionist, the D***head. :!:

There is no way you can do a spot on job in that time. You can make a job look good but the stuff like how the carpet will wear and how easy it is to hoover etc will be poor.

A lot of carpet fitters dont realise the importance of the prep and the correct stretching techs on how much difference it will make to the wear of the carpet.

By the sounds of it you are either slow or you are simply doing the job to 'master fitter' quality. What people dont realise is that when you do become good at your job you also get paid a lot more with a easier life! its a win win situation ;)

Here-here, I say this to my customers when they want me to do the job for the same price as Bob The Builder but explain that the reason I charge is because I use best prep materials, best practice and concentrate on their job and walk out the door, not running and get most jobs I price

I woudn't call myself a masterfitter just yet (thats why i joined this forum as i want to further my education beyond the teaching of the cowboys i work for) but i take my time and do a good neat job.

Tip for you mate, make sure you keep your eye on the training courses section on here. I sort out FREE courses along with a few you have to pay for. Make sure you take advantage of whats on offer. im sure all will back me up here, when i run or arrange a course its always a beneficial course to all that attend. ;)

    PMSl, how funny!

That was a good night out. Daz falling asleep while eating his curry, you missing your train home and staying out on the pee with us, Hobbit turning up at the end of the course? (he missed his plane from Ireland and got the later one) and then you all having to crash the same room in the hotel.

    Quality course that was :D
