Roberts is returning to having most of its production back in USA..... All gripper and Heat seaming tape is now to be made there. This means that they have decided that low cost gripper from China is a market they are not intrested in......Is this maybe a sea change in air, are other companies thinking along the same lines, that cheap can be too cheap and just bring problems?????
Could be. Too cheap often has the impression to be awful in quality too (perception). Other reason could be logistics: heard plenty of stories that importers/wholesaler who bought from China all of a sudden find themselves at the bottom of the stack for supplies coming in. Specially when they have started promoting the cheaper products to their clients and then can't "deliver" the goods any longer, they run a high risk of losing clients. Therefore many now return to a more reliable supplier/manufacturer.
This is also true and maybe we are realising that we need to see quality return to the items we fit, Sell & buy. I for one am fed up of buying somthing only to replace it because its failed a few years later. Just an example the crome shower rail has started to rust. It was never made correctly but after a year its out of warenty and all you can do is buy a new shower cubical.
The quality of gripper has gone right down the toilet over the last 15 years, I'm getting fed up with the nails either being missing or put in at a ridiculous angle, and I'm sure there were twice as many pins back in the day. :x
