Can anyone help out trying to some wood blocks to patch in a hall in an old house the blocks are 11cm wide 22 cm long and 2 inchs thick I wont be doing the job myself will be getting a wood company in to lay them as I don't know enough about sanding but the house restoration company who is over seeing the job has told the lady she needs therm all replaced and laid sraibht lay as you can't sand wood in herring bone pattern as the grain goes different ways and it will pull the grain out :?: can anyone shed any light on any of this
All I know about the floor is the lady said it is an oak block floor it's black at the moment they didn't even know it was there her mother lived there for 60 years and always had carpet only found wood floor when her mum past away and they striped all carpets up
2 inch thick, sounds different? could you not just get some oak and get the guys to cut it to size. Your never match it perfect if its that old. Any where you could take some from that isnt seen and use that?
No where we can take blocks from as we need 1.2 sq metres in total but have 2 months to find something as they don't want it done till last week before Xmas
They don't need replacing that's what gob shite house restoration manager said just need patching in where new smaller stair case has been put in and a cupboard has Been taken out
well if you cant find wood to match you could do something funky like remove the blocks from the edge and renew the edge blocks with, This way it will look like a different colour boarder like you do with karndean etc.
