Ye i had one of them Relays. Brought brand new and ended up selling 6 months later to buy a used sprinter. Lost a lot of money on that one. Never have another. Only have VW or MERC's now.

    defo not.

Had a new one every year as a company supplied van. Everyone was breaking down monthly.

However one of our fitters has just had a brand new one on lease. Seems to of improved over the last 5 years or so. Stil crap tho compared to the German vans. They just seem 15 years behind the Germans. Shame.

We had 3 transits an never had them problems. If they were breaking down monthly Matt then I'd be changing my garage.

Yep Germans are way ahead of us, my son says automatic gearbox is the way to go in vans no VW do that speed sequintial 7 speed box on the transporters now, he says it improves fuel economy in a van plus the gearbox is almost bullet proof.
Strange how it works to he explained the opperating of it so whilst you're driving and its selected 4th gear 5th is already engaged wierd and so an so on thus improving fuel economy above an over a mannual.
Its what I'm thinking of upgrading to gettin sick an tired of going 1, 2, 3 an back to 1 in London traffic.
Plus I got to get a new van for London to pass the LEZ emmisions law or have a particle filter fitted at a cost of £2000 what a con bear it mind if your engine ain't a euro cat 5 and you're coming into London LEZ then its £100 per entry.

Don't know what the situation is where you lads are, but round my way the dealerships can't get hold of lwb vans for love nor money.

It was nothing to do with the mechanics. Its what part failers. All was brand new vans and only serviced by main dealer. Also was same failers on different vans also.

Ha Ha, yes mate. I did love driving around with my air con on and beating most people off the line but it wasnt big enough for the carpet work and I must of had a duffer because it was in the garage every 6 months with something wrong

me and my mate brought 2 transporters year ogo never had a problem with them exept a recall for the dodgy radio aireals in the wing mirror but fixed now, but another mate has one same age new from same dealer and had new gear box and engine in thefirst2 months and is always breaking down so is trying to flog it, transporter is a great van drives great good on fuel looks good but needs to be a couple of feet longer as it's crap for a whole house of carpet as you either can't see out passenger window or you have to have back doors open which covers most of the back lights, the tail lift is better for carpets but a bit of an arse getting rolls of vinyl Lino in

Think that will be because they are a lot cheaper than the German vans. Considered better value for money to the smaller company and one man bands.

The bigger companys like most the delivery company's all seem to use the German vans. Guess due to they can afford to at the end of the day.

    Thanks for the edit!!
Always think people would be as honest ad myself!

Searched long and hard for a 4m german van and could only find 2 over here that didn't have high ( motorway) miles.

The van I got is a 06 Lt with 158bhp and only has 71k on her and was owned locally by a bedroom and kitchen firm.

Must say though really glad the relay which was 07 with only 61k on it us gone!!
