Does anyone know if the collage in Salford, manchester shut down?
I went there 87- 91 ish. I think a few others on the forum when there too.
I think there is one in Huyton Liverpool now.
If my nephew gets into it then he will need to go.

i'll be talking to someone in the next few days about this (quasi gov) to see what can be organised.
they've been ratteling on about apprenticeships but unless your a spark, brickie, joiner or hairdresser you've no hope.

I think the prob is that they don't know what all is involved in the flooring trade, most lay ppl think that you throw it on the floor and trim it,like how hard is that.

Matt may have to set an outpost over here  either that or there could be an orish invasion of brum  btw matt i,am up for another nigh out sometime  if you can stick the pace

On a serious note, if you can speak to the right people out there and would like me or someone to fly out and secure a deal i will be there .Even set up a training centre maybe inside a college? Again im willing to help and have all the right people in the U.k to help it work. Just need a good contact out in Ireland that can provide the premises etc and the funding. I have no issues travelling or sending out a team of lads that can provide training , NVQ's , Apprentiships , etc.

O and im not going out drinking with you again !

You all know that if i can help improve the trade then im in !

I will have a chat with a few people who know people and all that.

Like hobbit says alot of people just think it's chuck it down and cut it. And alot of the old timers are going without being able to pass on their knowledge as they seem to start doing small jobs and it doesn't pay them to have 2 men on the job.

I am up for helping and upping the game so to speak in the trade.

also doesn't help when whoever you train up decides to bugger off on their own and set up competition with you, loyalty is dead sadly

matt recived your P.M. thanks for the info.
i haven,t be able to do any thing this week due to work commitments, you'ed think the country just woke up and thought christmas is comming so i,d better go and get some carpet, my phone has,nt stopped i've have had 3 late nights (8.30 ish) booked untill the middle of dec so far. sung fit i may be calling or passing some on to you if you don,t mind.

started a kid this week informal casual arrangement, kid has had tough life, (foster care/hostle) yet he remains polite cheerful, dose'nt do drugs or drink to excess (my son knows him), so i thought i,d give a the kid a break. only 5 days in so still very much more in the way than helping but good for carring tools and fetching, maybe see after xmas about making it a formal arrangement altough a lot depends on work and how he develops, it'll have to be a sharp learning curve.
