Nice work mate, i see in the 2 wood pics 1 has staggered joins the other has half board joins, is that customer preference?

Yes mate, I never lay it like lined up like brickwork but the guy wanted it done that way. Because its quite a small plank it didnt look bad tho

I always ask the customer just incase, im always surprised by how many do choose the half board joins, i prefer staggered always looks a lot better, but as you say doesnt look too bad at all in that pic mate.

Its not down to looks that you should stagger the boards.

It makes a big difference on the strength of the floors also. Dont forget we are not using 75mm - 100mm thick bricks here, but a product 12mm+ thick that moves on its own!

Yep, you should not fit in a brick pattern. Wooden floors should be fitted with random stagger for strength. Like in your first wood picture ;)

If i rememebr right, so long as the staggered joints arnt any closer than 6" you should be ok.

6" is correct. But the last picture that Merit has posted up it is in Brick bond. You have basically created a 'hinge' in the floor that makes it weak.

Not that Merit is going to have issues on that job.
