Just wondering how many people use a laser to measure up for carpet etc on a regular basis and how you get on with it Been looking at one that has Bluetooth and plots on to computer but not sure how it works for stairs and door ways etc
Cool .... Is it fiddly on landings with lots of door ways , and I presume on a winder you measure the tread and riser and the add them together ? Sorry fir many questions only ones on eBay and it ends to tomorrow
I use a Bosch 70m one for measures unless its a little bathroom then I stick with the tape measure (also tape on stairs)
well i need to learn how to use one now I bought this today, a bit of bargain with bluetooth for the computer plotting !! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Leica-Disto-A ... 256b8e3408
i will have a word with one of our fellow trainers. He runs estimating courses. I would presume they do this sort of thing on the course? If so i wouldn't mind going on the course myself to learn how these work and what can be done with them and how to use the software. Will let you know if a course would interest yourself? Actually would any one be interested in going on a demo day / course learning how to use these 'tape measures' ? Just thinking if we have enough people then i will arrange for the manufactures to come out and train us all.
I been thinking about this measuring in to door ways business.......i,ve been a bit thick aint I ? all i gotta do is shut the flaming door and laser to that ......duuuh  Gotta wait till monday till my new toy comes ...booo hooo
i was presuming you was talking about the issue with doorways was related to pattern match through doors and the laser measure didnt know where the door was. OR The laser measure didnt know how deep the door drop was as it had nothing to bounce off. Now im starting to think your just a bit stupid lol
(The laser measure didnt know how deep the door drop was as it had nothing to bounce off. ) That's what I was talking about , your as daft as me !!!!
theres laser measures that have a 360 degree laser which basically pans the whole room then a picture of the room is shown on the little lcd screen if i remember correctly then you can pick from the picture where you want to measure to and from, hefty price tho
Im thinking aloud really , Once I start using it like you say it will probably be dead simple , you got one ?
yeah got a bluetooth enabled disto, better for contract work in my eyes, can't beat a good old tapemeasure
I won the disto on ebay an a6 with blue tooth, measued up a house full with it, so much easy when all the furniture is in the way. Also I discovered that I can plot by bluetooth in to the carpet estimator software and actually draw out the shapes......magic
