Is mapei latexplan trade ok to go over ceramics on top of a chipboard sub floor and can I prime using fball green 131 it's a rush job for a builder the bloke who preps his floor has dissapered and needs it latexes tomorrow and I have some left over from another job, if not what would anyone else use Cheers Andy
I thought about that but I can't get any quick enough it takes 48 hours for me to get it as no one local stocks it and bloke needs it done 8am tomorrow morning
well, mapei primer used first it will be fine. But 131 does stick to ceramics ........... The main question really is if there is flex in the base, if the ceramics are not cracking and the grout is not falling out then there is not a flex issue so will be fine.
It all feels solid under foot and no tile grout cracking what about balls 700 I know it says not recommended but have you ever tested it on ceramics
I've used 700 over ceramics and it's been fine, i didn't realise u couldn't use it. Only thing I worry about is if they have used a flexible tile grout and adhesive.
I've used neat 131 and then covered it with 300 a few times with no problems. As Matt says as long as there's no sign of the floor flexing and the tiles/ grout are sound there shouldn't be a problem. A layer of 300 is more flexible than flexible adhesive and grout......I know this as I've tested it on pieces of 9mm ply.
yep, there is this. Hence a fibre product will be safest. But i hear that latexplan around 5 months ago got some magic crap backed into the bag........ basically makes it do stuff im not allowed to tell you about ......
