Yeah more info but doesn't tell them the proper Rh value the subfloor should be below, or that the woodshould be tested for moisture levels

We sacked FlooringSupplies years ago, when we still had a trade account with them. Difference between trade and domestic prices for floors was peanuts.

When questioned about this, the reply we got was: yeah, but you'll have to profit on installation. Easily forgetting that we inform DIY clients and supply&Install clients on all matters related to wooden flooring.

Even questioned Karhs UK about this, answer: sorry, nothing we can do about this at the moment, but changes are afoot. Still waiting so see this happening. Manufacturers should stop allowing wholesalers to sell to the domestic clients at such low prices, undercutting those who do give these brands additional value (by informing the clients properly). Never mind what they say in CFA, Karhs and others still sell at low prices to the wholesales is my experience.

And therefore we don't sell these brands

completely agree we get screwed over due to unscroupulous wholesalers selling incorrectly and giving the trade a bad name.

it's getting tougher & tougher to beat the internet big boys with their deals & offers... As I mentioned on a previous thread the amount of supply & fit I have undertaken in the past year compared to the previous is far less, more & more fit only installs AND then these are compromised by sites that "advise" recommended rates, prices etc... F**KING where will it end!?!?! tough times ahead for us all me thinks...

I to have had a few install only after customer brought from Internet but my prices do not change and I've won 3 jobs but been much higher than the local cheap boy, but only won the job because I could produce a certificate there and then to show them I've been on a lvt course ( thanks matt @ FLOORSKILLS ) and know about the product, people will pay more if they understand you know what your doing and have done courses rather than pay a cheap boy who just bumbles along with no record of training,

This wasn't ment to read like if you never done a course you don't know what your doing, was just saying if you can back up your quote/ price with past job photos / course product certificates people generally will pay more for your services, there's some good courses here that FLOORSKILLS do,worth a look for anyone thinking about it

Feedback like the above is great .

Thanks for the positive feedback towards FloorSkills. :D

Yes one small bathroom karndean fit only one bloke quoted 4 hours I went in at an 8hour day rate and showed her pics of previous jobs folder oops lvt cert happened to be on top ;) woman phoned other company and asked if there fitter has been on a course and hadn't,job given to me there and then at double his price

30 sq metre on 45 with boarder fit only in camaro lvt

And have taken a builder of a shop as none of there blokes ( all subbies ) don't have any certs even tho they are approved retailers, he now buys in bulk on line and I just turn up and fit,

In total that advanced lvt course cost me around £750 which was for the course and £50 fuel £70 hotel and food and 2 days lost wages but almost paid for itself so will take another gamble in the summer on another course
