I have a Amtico tile job coming up , customer is buying the the tiles and grout, I thought she meant strip but its amtico,s "authentic grout" ! I have never used this so after some tips, 1: whats the neatest way of grouting with out getting in a mess ! ( a lot of masking tape ?? ) 2: For the spacing .....feature strip then take it out ? 3: Will the grout be ok on pressure sensitive adhesive 4: Any other good tips !!
Thought they stopped doin that gear, think Karndean have. Remember the bloke from Wirral carpets saying they had loads of come backs on it. Can u not talk her into normal design strips
on the amtico contour, just use regular tile spacers, as for the grout, use a tile float. the cleaning is the bugga, the best thing we found was using amtico's own cleaning system. if it's the first time you've done them just think of them like ceramics you can cut with a stanley knife. The grout is premixed, and covers well, just stay on top of it when filling the gaps, don't do too many without having a thorough clean up, as it dries very quick, and is a real pain to get off when it's dry. other than that, its quite a tough tile, just make sure when you're cutting that it's properly scored before snapping.
i was fitting jumbo planks white oak and had the rep out cause the planks were bowed and left gaps. He took a few away and said to fill the gaps with the grout. He started filling the gaps and i could see the planks staining, I rubbed the F*** out of the planks and thought it was clean. a few weeks later customer had a leak in the kitchen and had to replace some tiles, had a look at the hall and could still see staining from where the rep had filled with grout. The brand new bucket of grout he gave me went straight in the bin.
It's tough to clean off, I've only ever used the grout with Amtico contour. Grout cracks very easily so hope your fitting over screed. Best to work on a couple square meter section at a time, I used a float to put the grout on, bucket of water with a sponge to remove the majority of grout. Next day you could still see the trace of the grout so used a scourer to get that off and it worked a treat. Basically I would use a scourer from the start instead of the sponge and that should get it off
this aint sounding good, trouble is i,m doing job for a project manager and i have had no contact with client
dont stress! contour is easy, just remember to clean the grout off as you go, do NOT leave it to go off otherwise you will be in for a headache of epic proportions
I dont know what tile it is, think they said it was spacia but dont know which, so you grout like you would a ceramic tile, do a small area then clean off
Not sure about the amtico grout as I have never used it, I have done plenty of ceralium from gerflor. If its the same grout as that then use a big sponge, a bucket of clean water and give it a good soak with a doused sponge and keep changing the water. Do it in stages, the first clean removes the heavy stuff, then change the water and give it another pass and another until there's no more chalky residue. The water breaks up the unwanted grout on the top. Of course it may be nothing like ceralium grout... :?
if its spacia then its just the normal strip . contour is the only amtico product that needed grout (putty)
Yeah but I think Amtico advertise that you can use the grout with their normal tile and spacia too! Not sure about the adhesive, have to ask Amtico.
If its Spacia Contour just be carefull when removing the spacers , if their a little tight they can damage the the wear layer as it wraps over the edge of the tile slightly! Amtico say any of their adhesive is ok ( PS , SF or HT )
When I did it I cut a few pieces of ply down and used them as spacers, just set the space then take it out
Yes mate Thats what Amtico said to use . Make sure their floortile spacers. I must admit it did look good once finished but i think next time i fit them i will get a ceramic tiler to grout up for me!
