Got 200 m2 of vinyl tiles to uplift but need to find out if they have asbestos as they are pre 1980s. I've seen you can buy a test kit online? Any1 know if these actually work or if it's worth using this sort of thing?
im not aware of this "test kit" More details please as i think this is something we could do with showing on courses and possible set up a supply link through forum.
Apparently the test kit is actually the mask and protective clothes and bags to put the tiles in. Then you send it back to them and they give you the lab report. Not what I was expecting
A lot of the old tiles did contain asbestos but only something like 0.1%. I'm not sure if there is a tolerance when it comes to removal though?
Apparently they are low risk and I've heard that a few times but I'm not sure where I stand if I start taking them up in a school or church whatever? Infact I had a conversation today where some1 was saying the tiles are a low risk asbestos content so I could take them up? Not sure I like the sound of that
I was told on that big school job I did that your not allowed to take them up anymore on public places. So have to pay to get them up. Not sure if that's true though.
I "think" that you can uplift yourself based on the percentage of asbestos and basically you cover yourself from head to foot in the paper suit/goggles etc and can uplift by spraying water on tiles and bagging and sealing due to the small content. Again I say I "think" as i am sure I read this ages ago (sad git that I am)
