the time has come to buy my own guillotine for lvt and want idea of a decent one not the cheapest but one that works well on bigger tiles and on the 45 degrees
Good luck finding one mate. Even this massive one at Karndean we were using there didn't cut them on a 45 perfect.
I Have got a palet full, just arrived yesterday. which Matt is having one for testing (on route I belive) we have 2 sizes 330mm & 630mm. I assembled one yesterday and was impressed with the quality of the engineering. (german designed) It went together well and cuts very well. Even comes with a sharpening stone to remove PVC build up that you get on the blade unlike other LVT cutters this one has a sharpend blade. We should have them on the web site later today. Rugrat
As I said they are now on our site at http://www.carpetfittersshoponline.co.uk/cutinator-mh-330-rws203-443-p.asp We will get some more images sorted soon. Rugrat www.carpetfittersshoponline.co.uk
Review- I have been sent the 330 mm one and overall im very happy with it. The plus points- Very Very light weight Blade easy to sharpen / change Adjustable angle guide (any angle can be locked in place) Extendable cutting arm for heavy duty tiles Very well priced ! The Negative points- No guide to set a certain cutting distance. Would be helpful for cutting feature strips and also for tiles being cut for a boarder work. (Rugrat, am i missing the guide? i presume it don't come with one?) All in all, if i was to replace my current guiletenn it would be with this item. Hope that gives you all confidence in this product.
Guides will be available shortly. Will be a additional cost but as the gilly is already very cheap i cant see this being a issue. In all fairness it has a very good 'angle' guide built in but you cant set a depth of cut. So for example for cutting feature strips all the same. So the extra guide may not be used by many
So for using it with no guide you need mark each tile or strip ? How soon is soon for the guide to be available ?
at moment yes. So if you want repeat tiles then you will need the extra guide that will be available soon.
it cuts a bevel like the 24. Not a steep a bevel tho. But i think that is actually a good thing. in hot areas you can get a slight peak on boarders where the lvt expands and the top layer tries to lift up. This new guilly is a very slight bevel so i would predict it will be better.
Using a G clamp and a bit of wood you can set a distance its simple but works. I think the Germans must have better eyes than us they can do it by sight!!!!
