All carpets harbour dust and bugs etc... to one degree or another, none are really suitable but if they won't go for a hard floor keep it man made pref nylon although she made find it shocking.

Wool carpet traps dust and stops it from getting into the breathing zone. hard flooring cannot.
Wool absorbs toxins and locks them away for up to 30 years. Synthetic carpets introduce volatile emissions to the home..

My asthmatic child has wool in his bedroom. Westex make great carpets and offer extra protection against dust mites... Go with them..
