gaffer tape for underlay

    I have a 25m roll of gripperrods vapour tape to tape my Timbermate excel underlay.

    I think I'm going to come up a bit short though!!

    Can I use gaffer tape to tape the underlay joints?
    if so is it as effective as vapour tape?

    gaffer tape is fine providing its rated 'water proof'
