got a nightmare hall to do in quickstep with 8 wooden thresholds customer does not want them taken out nor does she like the little sticky end profiles i normally cut it 2mm short and seal it with clear silicone but the customer doesnt like the look of that either as a joiner did that in a bedroom any suggestions on what i could do ive even thought of undercutting or using a router to allow to slip under as they are maybe 20mm high thanks in advance
Quickstep up to 20mm wood thresholds that's a big step in height, if you can router / fien out a bit so it slides under it will look neater but will still end up with about 10mm height lip that's a toe breaker when they stub there toe
Rip the incizos down the middle with a table saw and you've created two 2.1 meter end moldings, which you can use to cover the gap and leave adequate expansion.
What a pain in the arse, I would definatly rip out the thresholds surely they will be a different wood to the quickstep! That will look naff. You could undercut them, I've done that before but I think they were solid oak square edge/ end profiles from memory
showed her all the possibilities already and shes adament she wants none of them apart from undercutting them or router think its time to bid farewell to this job
yeah she is think ill pass on it as im not comfortable undercutting the thresholds as its going to be extremely difficulkt to click the rows in when they are pararell you win some you lose some ill walk away with my head held high
Explain to her that if you under cut the threshold and there is any movement in the floor the threshold will crack over time and need replacing so it would be a bad idea
