Electric UFH

    Ive got a job to do in Quickstep laminate the customer is wanting electric UFH, the subfloor is chipboard, does the UFH lay ontop of the subfloor then as normal with the u/lay then laminate or do i have to screed over the electric matting with a flex screed then lay u/lay and laminate? ive never had any experiance with UFH is there anything to look out for? :confused: cheers

    normally the ufh is fitted on to a cushion mat which acts as the underlay for the flooring so the flooring is just fitted straight on top

    you need to use a specialist insulation board such as Depron instead of an underlay, 5mm Depron should suffice.

    once this ifitted the u/f/h is laid out / installed straight onto the Depron; then a moisture barrier needs to be fitted to cover the u/f/h area; then you can start to fit the QS...

    That looks great Welsh Wood, cheers for taking the time to reply to my post , im confident now in what i need to do the pictures explain it way easier than just text, the place where the thermostat is from is only 5 miles away from me so thats a bonus too:D

    Small thing but, remember to chisel a small bit of chipboard away for the heat sensor to sit in, otherwise you'll get a small bump in the laminate. It's usually about 6 inches away from the leading edge of the mesh.
