What's the worst cut you have done to your finger or thumb? When I was young twice slipped off straight edge and nearly took my thumb off. But was lucky.
Ive taken the tips off every finger and thumb ive got, spray glued and taped back on can barely tell I did it now although I have no feeling in the tips of my fingers now
Stabbed myself in the thigh and had to get 4 stitches. Fitted the whole house and was just putting a off cut in the cupboard.
I have nightmares about that cut when you slip off the straight edge!! My straight edge has got a few scratch marks on it where it's been a touching cloth moment!
As a nipper i was Free handing a carpet tile round a door frame ( seemed good idea at the time ) and blade caught in frame rather than pull back out I tried to pull it through blade released and brand new blade sliced across top of myl knee 5internal and 7 external stitches a painfully lesson to always mark back properly, hook knife into thumb makes a mess Aswell looked like a small cauliflower growing out of it,
remember when i was working in a funeral parlour! Was struggling to get through a heavy contract cpt Changed the blade and sliced clean through my forfinger on the first cut! Wasnt happy Also whilst cutting down some 5' bed slatts to 4'6" the saw slipped and i still have the scars today after 15yrs!
My worse one was with a staple hammer, as I went to staple some underlay down I put my finger behind the grip in the small gap and stapled away... it took the top off my index finger it turned out very messy, blood everywhere . Had to take a trip to the a & e.
Exactly the same as you. Twice through the thumb. On one of those steel sprung, wind up jobbies. Threw it away after the last time, but bought another since. The guy I was working with last year, cut the top of his finger clean off, on the same straight edge.
Simple cut, I was fitting vinyls in the new Stena offices. They wanted some cheap and cheerful domestic stuff in the toilets so got it all fitted and whilst gathering all the offcuts swept my hand straight into the tip of my knife, of course nothing to hand so nice grey vinyl with red blotched all the way to the tollbox outside in the corridor!! The one that left a mark was off the roof of the van. I was pulling out a blanket that had got stuck, it finally gave and and knuckles when hard into the metal tophat bars that hold the roof on. I still have the Nike logo on my index finger where they stitched in back.
At old company nipper had a cut that wouldn't stop bleeding not a bad one just one of those silly small ones that bleeds loads so messing about I told him to put some f61 on it as it would dry quick didn't he would but yep dipped his finger in the tin then moaned like a bitch that it stung but didn't cut himself much after that
Grandfather kneed a concave blade when using his knee kicker and the blade spun round, the flesh on his knee cap was just hanging on, customer asked would he back that day to finish the job.
Was cutting out some altro i templated on a spongey carpet with a concave blade when the knife slipped off my straight edge and took the corner of my index finger (nail aswell) clean off. I was gutted cos england were playing belgium that night in the world cup so i had to go to the pub that night with me arm in a sling and what looked like a light bulb on the end of my finger. Had 2 weeks off work and learnt an important lesson. That wasxmy first and only bad cut. (Hope i,m not tempting fate)
Stabbed a whole straight blade into my left thumb on the last cut of the day. First time I ever bled on a carpet and it was flippn white. My wee brother was sick when he saw the blood and with lots of water got carpet cleaned. But customer said she wasn't happy and wanted new carpet. Went to hospital and the nurse got her latex glove stuck to the cut when she put the super glue on it. When I first started in the game I had to trim a window wiper so I opted for a hooked blade that slipped and went through my thumb and came out through the nail. And any time the docs ask if I need a tetanus I say Na got one last year.
A lad I was working with almost cut off his thumb with a mitre saw, was funny running around after him with a cloth cleaning up his blood off the new laminate floor we were fitting, it was only hanging on by a small bit of skin.
