For the fellas who have apprentices with them, what do you do when your doing say a bathroom or a job where they can't do no work? Do they just watch and learn or do you tell them to tidy the van?
If you have a nipper with you that is learning to do the trade they have to have hands on experience if in a bathroom say where there's not enouth room for 2 to work and you don't want them fitting it them self the next best thing is to watch ask questions about what your doing and for fitter to explain and give understanding answers if they ask a question on what or how your doing, they will learn naff all cleaning the back of the van exept learning that those things that looked like rubbish are actually my tools gggrrrr
Where I was because there was about 20 fitters you always were with someone where u had to work. Days of nailing or rubbing down or uplifting. Not nice
We actually have sky hooks provided on site to keep your leads in the air and off the ground, I found asking for a the nonstick glue would have them gone for a while till they figured it out.
I used to watch all the time and then I used to get off cuts put them against the skirting and practise cutting and getting the knife angel right until I could cut exactly then I started cutting in 1 wall etc
Ain't that the truth My apprentice now works with a FINE system IE, I catch him texting or doing something that he has been told not to, Its a fine £5 or £10 out his wages Iv tried all other ways to get them to listen but the loss of money at the end of the week is the best and I also bung him Extra now and again when we've had a good week John
or drip F3 down his crack while he's bent over he'll need to shave his arse to get it out, soon learn
