Ran out of levelflex screed near the end of a job the other day and the quickest thing I could get was Renovation. I was well impressed, goes off nice and smooth, better than levelflex. i think I'll be choosing this from now on.
it does flow well tbh, nut i find it leaves quite a dusty finish, also a bit too easy to come off the floor too Maybe the scottish weather doesnt agree with it lol
Yeah I agree with both of what you mentioned, the dust thing isn't too much of a problem as I give all the floors a quick going over with the buffer and then hoover up. A bit came up on me as well when I repositioned a plank, that can't be good! btw, thanks for the tip of using the heat gun on the feather edge, saved me a few minutes last night*
as you should prime before you apply anything to the top of compounds then the dusty finish should not be a problem. As for it coming up?? Wish it came up easy for me ! spent days trying to get it up off the floor at the training center. When we strength tested it, well it was actually strongest bonding of all water based products we tested. Out of interest what primer was used when you got it to come up?
ye i can and will. But i will wait until im in the test labs again so i can ask the chemist people rather than Mapei staff
Prefer to use prim t, with mapei products. 131 with fballs etc... manufacturers are stuck then if anything goes awry.
Just about to be using some of this for a cafe project over the top of ceramics. Is there an ideal amount of water that I should be adding? First time I've used it and its about 80m2 so kinda want to get it right!!
Cheers Matt, the bags aren't coming till Tuesday so I'll check the amounts then. I'll stick some pics up hopefully before, during and after. Been thinking about an itools bucket for a wee while too but struggling to justify the price over your run o the mill big bin! Any thoughts?
Just been thinking, neat prime the subfloor then apply the renovate screed. Are you just using the same primer again over the screed but diluted prior to fitting?
neat primer for none absorbent sub-floors. If you have a dusty sub-floor then you need to mix 1/4. I would also prime twice on a dusty floor. So you do 1/4 and then a neat coat. After you have laid teh compound i would ALWAYS prime it. Normally at 1/4. This is referring to primT primer. All primers work different.
