ok does anyone have a diagram of how to stretch a carpet using a power stretcher . im trying to teach my lads how to use one and would like to show them in black and white .
i stretch much bigger sized rooms than 5m with a normal stretcher, dont have problem getting it tight. Maybe thats not correct but if the carpet is tight i guess ill just carry on that way.
I`m with you mate. I had 5 years of fitting pubs/clubs etc and never ever used a power stretcher. Never had a restretch either. Loads of domestic work, and no problems either Maybe that`s why i`m booked in for new knee replacements .........lol
I`ve just invested in a crain power stretcher will get it end of the week thought it would be used in the same way as traditional stretch
haha yeah totally understand that, i think i stretch hard aswell. knee takes a bashing but i dont get call backs so i just stick with it.
hi link to diagram for power stretching http://www.hejnyrental.com/docs/Power%20Carpet%20Stretcher.pdf as rick said bs says all cpts over 5mtr in length must be power stretched. have spent 30 yrs without doing this but times change and im not getting any younger so power stretching takes the hard work out,but you need a young un to carry the dammed thing .
Hi mate. I worked in new Zealand for 5 years and even 1metre wide hallways were stretched sideways with a compacted down power stretcher. I paid $2000 ( approx £1000) for my Crain one, and shipped it back with me when came home. My understanding for use in this country is that above 5 metre "should" be power stretched, but the difference in the backings on carpets in this country makes them much stiffer, and more susceptible to tearing or ripping. Of course, being a proficient user of the PS does help stop this, but I personally feel because of climate and backings I don't think there are many carpets that require them. If I find a decent manual for you, i'll post it mate. I do suggest you try NZ websites tho, as they are in constant use there.
Looks like a good find, can't tell from the picture but does anybody know if the pin height is adjustable on the above model? Thanks
The pin height will be adjustable either by a dial on top like a kicker or by turning the two screws on the underside to raise or lower the metal bar
