My mate had his 104 transporter mapped to 130. Disaster. New ecu after a year.
But, was out in my mates Focus ST last week. Wow that was fast, it broke his mates rolling road.
Bit more done than just a remap though.

This is like anything , it depends who does the re - map !! There are cowboys in every game ( I'm not saying this guy is a cowboy )and apparently ,not everybody can re-map even if you have the necessary re-map programme .

    Totally agree mate.
Was your Transit an 85 ? how about the gear ratios ? they all still o.k and how has it effected fuel economy ? better or worse

Let me know how the Vivaro goes, I have got one too.

yeah transit was an 85 with low ratio box he put one map on it that was so quick but was putting out smoke so he had to lower it a bit.he redone the map about 5 times till i was happy.fuel is a little better when i dont boot it.i went to yorkshire in the vivaro yesterday and have to say it does better on fuel than the tranny still doing 90 on the motorway loaded with tools and 130sqm karndean:D will let you know when i get the vivaro done

    my sprinter makes over 200bhp.

Its quickish, about the same as a golf gti.

Some of you know' i used to do a lot racing and a lot of drag ' . You get to know who is good at there game and if anyone is around Coventry i have a company over there that used to build and map my engines (they did my van)

As for fuel, well my sprinter is over 200bhp but it is actually better on fuel also. We did ring its neck to get the 200bhp but it is still very safe.

Remapping is not as simple as it sounds. Anyone can make extra power, making something make extra power and do it reliable is the hard bit. Dont scimp on a **** tuner. Personally if you cant get yourself to Coventry for a remap then i would advice a company called 'elite remapps' , they work different to most. What they do is the engineer will download data logs from your ecu. He then emails them to some clever chap in leeds. The clever chap in leeds looks at your logs and writes new software to suit your engine. He emails it back and the engineer uploads to your ecu. Really, these chaps are good.

BEWARE, of any company using 'generic' maps. Generic maps almost all companys use. A Generic map is basically a manufacturer map that has had its limits raised. THEY DO NOT take into account that every engine is slightly different. Think of it this way. If every room was built to be 3mx3m and every carpet was sold at 3m x 3m then in theory it would fit. But a slight bent wall etc then it wont. Just like a map, it needs to be custom installed to work correctly.

PS- if anyone is wondering why i have knowledge on this (apart from being a bit anal and knowing this sort of stuff) , when i left school i actually went into motorsport and worked for Porsche, Ferrari and onto a rally team.

Thats pretty much the way it was explained to me!! The guys on the VW T4 forum all seem to use a guy in Rochdale / Halifax area called Chipwizards . Like you say Matt he basically 'designs' the map to suit the vehicle, so they are all different results and power outputs .

That sprinter of yours must be damn quick !!

Ive always been into my cars and by far the best ive had was the couple of B5 RS4's at silly power after I had spent a fortune on them but well worth it imo.
ive always used the same tuners for my cars and my vans. Im in leicester but have travelled pretty far for some tuners. I can recommend Mrc tuning in Banbury. They do they're own maps and these guys know their ****. Then you have 2 other great companies that are quite mobile if required. Viper tuning and Unicorn - As said, dont buy these cheap ass maps off ebay etc and dont just go with anybody without doing your research. Custom maps are by far the best and will be set up to YOU and not just a file emailed via yahoo from some guy in the states....

You have been the RS route also LOL, me last RS i owned was a RS6. Probably the best car i have ever owned. Not the quickest by far but as a overall car it was the ******. MTM tunned my RS6 and as i understand it still holds the the European record at santa pod a few years ago for quickest 6 . I have also used MRC in the past and like you say they are good and on par with MTM. However after meting and using MGT Racing in coventry, well the are on another level. Seriously i cant explain the difference.

Im currently driving a A6 but a limited edition one with RS6 running gear and the B5 RS4 engine (2.7tt) Its a real sleeper and no one knows what it can do, only give away is the two exhausts out the back and the large brakes. To me its nothing special and defo not a RS but still puts a smile on your face !

    Audi is king !

I love my 4 rings
I also thought about the RS6 but a good friend of mine had the dreaded gearbox failure weeks before I was going to buy it off him then turned out after research that its quite a common problem. his was the '+' model tuned to nearer 720bhp and that was frightening. Mind you the B5 RS suffers from 'chocolate cams' but I was sold after driving one. Doug & Minhea (mrc) have done wonders with a few of my motors. My first Rs was Mtm stage 3 before I changed over to a mrc custom map and loved the low down torque their map gave....then it got stolen so I went with another MTM ex demo which was even better but ended up sitting on my front for weeks on end due to 'living out a van' with work n all that.

I know what you saying though, there is some real good tuners out there we dont hear enough about that could do just as good a job...and cheaper than Mrc lol

I know which A6 you have and like you say - pure sleeper, no one expects them to shift as quick as they do, after all they're just an estate to most lol . Ill be doing a S4 Widebody as a project, I can get my hands on a right bargain with some Loba stuff but its looking more of a money pit because you know yourself Matt this modding is veerrrry addictive and friggin expensive aint it [GuLp]

ive had my transit 140 done its faster but not that noticeable and better on juice slightly but it can judder in forth maybe it were a dodgy tune.

Wow didn't realise you guys were into your Audis! I've used MRC for 9 years now, they did my TT and currently look after my 3.0t supercharged S5 cab which is nearly 500bhp going to a Rolling Road day there on Saturday!
