Hello. Can any one recommend best way of applying a colour hardwax oil ( Floorservice Dark Oak) to unfinished pre-sanded prime oak which I'm laying total stick down next week. The only previous one we did was just using soft cloth rags which was tedious plus a rotary buffer which flicked it everywhere.
    Thanks

I usually go around the edges with a rag and apply the oil by hand and a numatic low speed buffing machine with a white pad. Take the hole out of the middle and fill it right up with the colour oil. Then do a couple of runs with the machine, then stick a bona oil cloth on a fresh white pad and buff the excess off, the low speed machine doesnt fling the oil about everywhere!

Thanks for that Baz, our machine is probably too high speed for this job - will need to hire low speed one. My job is near Manningtree - do you hire your kit out?

Thanks for your kind offer, only second time I've done staining - presume I would just need your buffer and I would buy white pads (size? ) and oil cloths from Havwoods - starting job next Monday - staining Friday/Saturday hopefully. Regs SV

Hi mate, the buffer takes 430mm pads, what dates do you need it and what do you want to do about collecting/ delivering? oh and the cash bit?
