my work mate off for 3 weeks as of today on maternity leave (yeah u read that right lol)
question is how do you guys tend to lift carpets urself
i tend to loose roll and bend in halve but getting a 5m x 5m into a upstairs bedroom can be a tight squeeze lol

always on the look out for hints and tips

even thought about tieing a bungee cord around a carpet and lifting that way as i tend to lean it against my body and shoulders opposed to lifting on shoulders

    sorry if post confusing

Like you if its a reasonable size and going upstairs i bend it in half.
I have some straps i use to tie it together.
Gives you something to grab and keeps it together.

If I'm by myself,I tend to fold either ends into the centre of the carpet then walk along the crease, roll it up,then put some tape around it.
great for getting the carpets upstairs

What's with the comment about maternity leave lol blokes are entitled to time off to when they have kids to lol

i trend to just fold them in half and get it up, unless we're talking really thick stuff I don't usually have a problem getting it upstairs

Pay someone to help you then, plenty of young lads who could do with a few extra quid.

Sorry for resurrecting a dead post, I was just getting "board" with all the hard flooring topics tonight, LOL,
I nearly always re-roll carpets on the wrapper(cut wrapper, and roll 1ft at a time,) then "snake" it up the stairs, would never fold a carpet in half, damages the backing too much.
