Hi just looking for professional fitters opinions of penthouse vermount range?? Would i see much diference between 50 and 60z And which underlay would you advise?? We have previously used cloud nine cumulus but reading some of the threads on here looks like the quality has gone down hill. We had cormar carpet in our last house we had cormar highlander carpet and was disappointed ith how it wore in our lounge.

Or if there is any other good quality 80/ 20 wool twist that you can advise. Looking for a good fitter in the portsmouth area as well.

hi-penthouse is good carpet ,theres probably little diff in wear between 50/60 oz,more to do with more of a luxury feel underfoot, certainly
will outlast any cormar products.I use treddaire 7th heaven contract 9mm as an upgrade underlay.

Penthouse is normally great, I would go for the 50oz personally, less likely to show pile reversal (shading) over time.Carpenters ultra step or cloud 9 super contract would extend the wear, if you dont want a soft u/lay.

I don't think there is anything wrong with cumulus always been perfect through out the roll. 50oz is more than suitable, 60oz is more of a luxury.

for similar money look more towards westex carpets ultima twist range they are a fair bit better, also with underlay a good quality twist pile should always be fitted on a quality combi felt or crumb rubber underlay such as duralay kensington or treadmore, the foams are better suited to cheaper carpets where you will be replacing within 4-5 years. All carpets wear through friction so the less pile movement you get the longer your carpet will last, get a mat whipped up and place in front of your chairs will help prevent wear through shuffling feet and put some coir matting at the exterior doorways to make sure you get any stones out of your shoes prior to walking on your carpet will protect the pile. check here for a professional installer in your area http://theflooringforum.com/listing.php
