As previously mentioned, after a horrible experience where my compressor broke down during a night job I thought I'd get a spare of the essential tools. What about this as an emergency back up, yeah you wouldn't want to use it all the time but for the price its okay to keep boxed up in the van incase your mixer packs up just when you've emptied 2 bags of 300 in the big bin. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PLASTERER...ols_Construction_Tools_ET&hash=item2c6c51330c
Good plan to have spare essential tools for the night shift or any time for that matter. My back up mixer is my sds drill for which I have a jacobs chuck.
looks similar to the one i have Ive had mine 2yrs+ now Bugger all wrong with it, and going damn strong Best bit - £35 delivered!
Floor screeds generally aren't the hardest to mix anyway. The pro mixers are designed to mix much heavier stuff like plaster and tile cement so a back up doesn't need to be top spec. I like my drill cos I can make holes with it too.
I used an Argos value drill for 2 years until it burnt the motor out when I was trained it was always drill with paddle I have since got a berg mixer a couple of years ago which is much better. I also remember having to mix by hand with a stick

The good old naplock mix where you mix half the lumps in bucket and other half on floor, thank god for cheap cordless and whisk
