Went ikea yesterday to buy a new bed. Reason why i went ikea is i wanted a large bed and all there beds are international sizes so larger than u.k.

So we get to ikea and bump in to cre8tive flooring from off here ! random as he lives miles away and was on course last week. What are the chances of that

Anyway, head to bed section and start trying out all the beds.Typical the one we both like (my mrs not cre8tive flooring) is the most expensive one they sell.

The sales person tells me you can purchase any mattress and if you don't like it, you can return and upgrade or get vouchers to spend in store.

So i think to myself, in other words if i buy a cheap mattress then i will be returning in 1 months time to upgrade to a better one.

I figured i would just bite the bullet and buy the one we both like and the best one they do as i will only end up returning the cheaper one and upgrading.

First nights sleep, we both wake up with back ache. The matress is rock hard. The one we tried at ikea was soft.

I do the maths, the one we tried probably has 1000 people per day jumping on it. So i think in maybe 20 years time my new mattress will feel like the one at ikea. (sort of defeats the point of buying a new one)

Its not like i can really return the best one they sell to upgrade and if i asked for a refund i would end up with £1000 quid of vouchers to spend on god knows what and no bed at the end of it ! Cocked that one up didn't i?

Funny that....if I sleep on a soft mattress I get back ache. You could try a memory foam topper if you struggle with it so you have the best of both worlds

The mattress i just replaced had a built in 2" memory foam top to it. That cost me a fortune also.

The matress is supposed to be 'medium'. Its rock hard tho, feels like i was sleeping on a concrete floor.

Just read returns policy, they say it will soften up. Hope it hurry's up and does so. The mattress topper i was looking at is another £300 quid. But surely if you purchace the best mattress they sell then you shouldn't have to add a topper that i could of added to a cheap mattress.

The mattress would probably crawl back to the store.

    ye, but its cheap.

They sell matrees's from £80 quid so when i picked out the most expensive one they have (£600) and added the best sprung base they have at £270 + legs etc it was close to £1000 for basically a mattress and a base with no draws etc.

I expected more. Now im going to add a £300 quid topper to it. £1300 quid for a mattress and a base is good money ' i thought'

This returns policy they have. Well you have 90 days to return.

What happens to the ones that get returned?

There are stores that deal in returns that can't be sold as new or there are specialist auctions

spec v spec compared to CR etc then they are priced very well.

But saying that i have come up short here.

I get cost at CR , SCS, Benson beds etc and like i say the spec is equal to the top ones i compared to.

The actual spec is very good. Its just to hard. Apart from that i wanted the extra few "inch" on offer of a continental bed.
