What does everyone else do when screeding smaller areas when you don't need a full bag.

    Do you

    A. Mix a full bag and chuck the rest
    B. Guess the quantities and hope for the best
    C. Have some sort of containers that you know the volume of to scoop/ measure the right amounts
    D. Fanny about like me with some bathroom scales and an old measuring jug?

Or is there a better method?

    B. Guess it.

Over the years tho i have started to get it fairly close every time. A bit of skill and a lot of luck!

    A. Pour the remainder back in the bag and it goes off by the time you fck off home so just lob it in customers wheelie bin.

I was a meter short the other day and then mixed a 3rd of a bag. Just poured liquid in then guessed the powder.

Mix full units, I don't do guess work. Customer pays for how many bags I use.

All the half bags are good for builders / council jobs. As the rates are crap and you get paid per m2 on most so I won't use waste. I even save cuts of polyflex tiles for the next kitchen.

I guess and mix whats needed the remainder goes into an old balls 500 bucket with lid so it doesnt get wet are kicked around van, then it gets used up on disabled bathrooms, couple of part bag mixes left over and used in a wc easy £100 for labour and materials you already have

I work by the half bag meaning when I get near the end of a job and there's about a couple of metres to go I'll mix a half bag.I estimate the half bag and add slightly less then half the water and add some more till the mix feels right. After mixing a few bags before that one you know if it's right. On saying that I have a heated store ( external boiler house actually ) and an open bag keeps for a while.

Regarding the waste I leave the flexitubs at the job to set......I'm coming back anyway and it's easier to get rid of a solid lump

    weigh it out.

I have 1 bag that is already split into 2 halves ready on the van. Very rare i need it tho unless i know i have a couple of WC toilets etc that need screeding. So as soon as it becomes 4 weeks old it gets used as a full mix.

I used to guess it but can't be bothered now with bags left over so always use full bag and dispose of what's left in empty screed bag.
