What would expect to pay for one of these.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9K8z97nY0E8&NR=1&feature=endscreen
Seen it at Harrogate last year. Does it send the screws right in. As seen it used with drywall screws and the fella said they will all be countersunk. They weren't. How much are the right screws?
smallest 'proper' wood scre3ws that are collated are 25mm deep I use them with my makita autofeed (seem to be using it more and more lately too, maybe im getting lazy lol) But by jesus are they expensive! Will find a link for them
I use a makita autofeed cordless screwgun for 9mm or 12mm. I bought it originally when we built our house but it has been used now for plywood. I don't use drywall screws for plywood no matter what. Far too fine a thread and even if they do grip, the head tends to sheer off! I buy the proper collated wood screws, 25mm or 35mm. And you can adjust the amount it countersinks.
The model of screw gun is Makita BFR550RFE. The fixings are available from http://www.fixingsandfastenings.co.uk/Product/Collated-Flooring-Wood-Screws/1217 I know a lot of guys that use the Senco gun but I have quite few Makita 18v pieces so went for the Makita screw gun. If you are getting the screw gun too, make sure you get the right one. Makita make 2 and the other one is for larger screws and doesn't go down to a small enough size. Happy screwing!! ;-)
ooft Nice price tag there mate! try these... http://www.bryson.co.uk/product/show/10635 (the 25mm are £18 a box) http://www.macbuildingproducts.com/product_info.php?cPath=35_228&products_id=13486 not sure if these would do, but gotta be better than the drywall surely? http://www.ironmongerydirect.co.uk/.../11741/timco_collated_zinc_fine_thread/859900
;-) Cheers. One of my downfalls I'm afraid, I'm usually sharp as a carpet tack on the toys but tend to find-click-buy when it comes to the nails/screws/plugs etc. Cheers for the links, I'll have a nosey.
The quickdrive is a brilliant auto feed gun have used it for ply from 6mm - 18mm marine ply only thing with the gun is they have 2 diff strips of screws one straignt one curved like a banana which means they have 2 diff ends where strips feed into a straight and acurved wrong screw for the wrong end reults in screws sticking proud and munching drill ends and with only 1 bit per box of screws costs when you need to buy extra from them as there a square end and cant find them in a lot of places
There the babies good screw, stepdads company has 4 of those guns f me can you put some metres down aday with them well when I say 4 he has 3 and I look after 1
john smith and co in aberdeen are 14 plus vat for 25mm or they were when i last bought but that was a few months back
I have a feeling they paid around £250 each and got 15000 free screws when brought 4 together but that was about 4-5 years ago, if anyone does buy one dont spend hours trying to leaver the bit out the end with a makeshift pin there is a handy bit remover located on side of bottom section that slides out making bit replacement very easy and quick
