That looks like some of the early fast set gripper adhesive. It expands as it sets and if to much is put down it grows like in the pic.
Learnt that myslf first time i used it. Put down thin bead and thought it wasn't enough so cut nozzle bigger.
Next thing I know the grippers an inch off the floor.

023.jpg 024.jpg It might not be immediately obvious as the photos aren't great quality, but this is Gala Gelback, on (badly fitted, p1ss-poor quality) grip and pad.
Done by a local, well established company with a good reutation believe it or not.

shouldn't mock... i've actually browsed a wood & laminate flooring companies w'site near'ish to me & on the 'Gallery' tab there was at least 2 jobs whereby they were showboating their fantastic ability NOT to undercut the arch's & linings...!!! Called themselves professional fitters!!!

another qualiteee tale, sorry no pictorial evidence apart from the client spoken word... i had a call to carry out a remedial at a laminate job fitted a few weeks previous, just replacing a few loose scotia returns etc,,, got chatting to the client who told me that when they moved into their brand new house & were moving their daughters bedroom furniture etc in they realised something just didn't feel right unerfoot... So called in the developers who easily identified the problem - THE LAMINATE FITTER HAD LEFT THEIR PENCIL BENEATH THE LAMINATE CAUSING A 'HUMP' IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BEDROOM!!!! WTF!!! how this went unnoticed beggars belief, not just the fitter but also decorator who went in after him & the cleaners after them!!!

Nice one Welshy,I'd like to see how he'd get on with that hand saw on 100 year old frames with 3" cuts anchoring to the floor.

why do people let cowboys like that into their properties, come on floating a T&G engineered like that should have been bonded and no work had been done to that subfloor.

I got asked to look at a job as laminate flooring was coming apart. It turned out that someone had lifted old carpet and just put laminate down on top of gripper and underlay! what makes it worse is that he probably made more money from job than I did!
