Do any of you lads do it been asked a lot lately if I do and iv seen every Tom doing it plumbers builders elecies so was wondering if any body knows what's involved or if they could recommend any good courses cheers
tools can be pricey, but same with everything get the prep right and the rest is easy. http://www.tradeteacher.co.uk/tiling-training-courses?gclid=COz1-9KQlrYCFYbHtAodKR0Akw best way to do it really is the same way we do everything else get basic training then mainly trial and error and loads of practise, mapei and ardex make good quality tiling adhesives and grouts plus they both do courses on them as well.
Mapei do a ceramics course. Very basic tho and more around the correct use of their products. Let me know if any of you want to go on it and i will arrange a FREE course through the forum.
here you go chaps http://theflooringforum.com/showthread.php?12069-Ceramic-install-course-Mapei-FREE&p=75944#post75944
I've done Ardex's and BAL's training courses, similar to mapei's mainly adhesive use etc... and did a college course donkeys ago mostly hands on but nothing like real life
It seems simple on the surface ( pardon the pun ) but there are many pitfalls most of them to do with preparation. Does that sound familiar?
Any of you guys ever worked with PVC or rubber tiles? They easy to work with? Have something looking me to do a job with them but never worked with them before.
rubber is the work of the devil mate, the pvc or lvt's can be nice to work with although if you've no experience with them give them a wide berth for now do some training courses and see if you can help out a pro on a few jobs just to give you an idea of what to do. But your subfloor prep HAS to be perfect or the job will look a mess no matter how well you fit them.
