Not so much sites but I get people phoning me the time expecting me to turn up with tiles ready for work. When I ask for them to pay a deposit or similar upfront they go cold! F*ck 'em.

It 2.20m2 carpet underlay an Hoover vinyls 3 quid a metre but you have to provide on adhesive etc but ur straight taxed 20 % so your looking at 176 carpet 2.40 vinyl don't pay petrol either over 40 miles 35pence per mile after.was asked to fit 45 m2 on a big stairs obviously time consuming which after you've been taxed is about 80 quid without taking petrol off and to be honest think that's sh#t

    £2.20 for gripper, underlay and carpet= sh*te
£3 sq. m for vinyl ? as in Polyflor and the like ?

    or cushion floor ?
    and you provide adhesive ?

20% is standard tax deduction, and comes off your end of year tax bill. If it`s over, you would be due a rebate.

Sound pretty poor to me, and prob need your cscs card, boots, vis etc if it`s site work.

Yes mate need all ppe just the fact that its took straight off wat u earn asif you're employed buy them with non of the benefits vinyl is 3 quid square metre including adhesive and safety floor altro is 6 quid with you supplying adhesive with no minimum fit so say you have a real awkward at 3m2 you'd get 18 quid hahha which I find is an insult the more I work it out the more laughable it sounds no wonder he's crying out for fitters think il take g4l's advice an kindly tell him to fu£k off!!!!!

The 20% is a standard thing mate. If you work for any contractor, he should, by law, take the 20% unless you have a cis6 exemption card.
£6 sq. m for safety is not bad, but as you say, only if the area`s are big enough. Classrooms, big commercial kitchens, and you would be laughing.
Toilet cubicles, and youd be crying !

Would n`t tell him to f*uck off, just in case you get desperate. Tell him politely to go away, and come back later

Semi Skilled jam rolls a rip off merchants best friend and the reason they remain in business, on one site I worked on the labours were getting min wage less 20% and sometimes 30% if there cis isnt sorted, thats a pathetic take home and the sites wonder why the work is of such a s***e quality, on an ardmore (worst construction company in the uk for my money) site ive done abit of work on the plasterers/make gooder took no word of a lie 5 days to sort this section of ceiling out, everytime they done it it was no better than before and every time the site agent moaned they were like 'whats wrong with it?' the edge of this ceiling was like a snake lol, and dont get me started on the ply they put down that was 'ready to fit on' bar the joints being feathered.

Honestly its like they were wheeling them off the boat and giving out tools and being told your a plumber your a sparks your a chippy, useless.

Where about s you based? Yeah the rates are shocking and the houses you get are mainly three storey townhouses 16 twists two landings two bathrooms and two w/c ,four beds ,cupboards , I've done loads of them and now glad I don't do them as much they take some doing even with two fitters in one day, you wouldn't want a full week on them. I've done them for £2 carpet £3 vinyl loose lay I know of a company in Doncaster paying £1.40 carpet before tax that's truly taking the **** a friend of mine worked for them after the company got the contract off the guys I were working for ,they simply took 60p of the fitting charge to win contract off the building company, and its not polish muka its greedy f*****g English wanting you to work for nothing!!!

Yeah I know its our lot trying to make a quick quid but its the poles and the like who seem quite happy to do a 10/12 hour shift at £6.19 an hour send it home and live off the benefits we give them.

Not one polish team of fitters work for that company I were writing about not one! It's not the poles people should angry at,do you think that all the polish are coming here and doing our work? There's not enough polish in this country to do our work dude,it companies wanting you to work for nothing so they keep making there big profits and share holders happy, you'll need to work 10 12 hours a day to finish them houses off ha ha
p.s I haven't come across one polish team of fitters personally, but I do live in the north and we are light years behind the south
