OK i'll try and word this carefully, because everyone I've asked so far just looks at me blank.

I have a guy who has bought a pre formed runner, you know the ones about 2foot wide and have the borders down each edge. But he has 3 winders on his staircase. I would normally cut a pattern and have the carper bound, but obviously this is pre formed so that's a no can do - How the hell do i make it turn? 1/4 or 1/2 landings are miter joins, correct ? but surely no joins on a winder??

I've seen some details about under pinning and folding it over its self on the riser in a triangle ish shape, but is that a good idea? surely this is bulky and in my mind still wont line up the border work.

I would appreciate any advice on this. Has anyone done it? Can it be done? Its bamboozled me

Underpinning is the only way I'm aware of doing it. But it's a total pita.
And doesn't look neat by today's standards

As Cool says, fold and underpin, and yes, it is a pita, on the plus side you can allow a change of tread as well, ahh, takes me back. lol

You can also mitre it on the treads.

I think graham use to call it pin and pocket or something? Sounded like a headache and people obviously don't do it anymore for a reason I'm guessing?
