Can you use carpet tile tackifier to stick the underlay as i have loads of it in stead of f40! Steve.
no you cant. One is for carpet tiles and the other for underlay. They have different tack levels for a reason. you can go teh other way tho- tacky for carpet tiles.
Cheers Matt will be using f 40 aim getting some blind gripper as well very hard to get. can you use f 46 in stead as its high tac! Steve.
Personally i think F46 is to strong and im not sure what Fball says. Mapei say you can use their PS adhesive but i wouldnt personally as again its to strong. The idea behind tacky is that you can get teh underlay back up but still have enough strength to stop carpets shrinking with cleaning and wheeled traffic basically shoving the underlay.
Yes, dont be fooled by carpet takifier tho. Wovens have a habit off rolling themselves back up even when bonded to Duralay . Done a fair few inspections on failed twin sticks with carpet tile tacky.
you do have to be careful, i even had a problem when using F40 and a heavy Desso carpet , when i stuck the Desso carpet it pulled the durafit off the floor and i had a few bubbles, thought it was in the carpet, turned out it was the underlay, had to syringe adhesive them and put weights on,, wasn't happy so now i always make double sure its well stuck before i lay any carpet.
