can you fit sisal the same day you stick or will it shrink?
I was told to stick one day and go back the following day to cut it in, any advice?

Rough it in, stick it, leave it.
    Don't cut any angles in

We use to stick and fit the same day and never had a problem.

I did too. Worked for a trendy shop in London, and fitted loads and loads of it. Always stuck and fitted same day.

Did have a problem, but only once. Very cold outside, boiling hot in the house= agro !

I've only seen it shrink once, ripped out a job for some1 and I asked the customer if they left it for a day and apparently they did!

If you let it acclimatise for a Minimum 48hrs rolled out you could fit same day. I usually go and prep up & lay out, then go back stick n fit.

should be acclimatised. The adhesive can make a difference. If using spirit based then fine. Its water based like F3 that can cause issues. There seems to be a new trend at the moment of installers watering down F3 so it goes further. Seen a few complaints of late where the F3 is failing due to water added (obviously and NOT a manufacturing issue) , the extra water is making floor-coverings shrink and the weakened adhesive not being able to hold.

When i fit i always put copydex inbetween the gripper and skirting just to help hold it in

I've got a crucial trading job so I've read up on their fitting manual so no issues. Does anyone staple the sisal into the blank gripper for extra hold?

I would but from what matt and others have said no. Crucial say to acclimatise the material but they will NOT guarantee that the material will not shrink.

@ Simmons. Do you cut in with a bit of lvt behind? I have an alternative flooring job coming up so spoke to them about their fitting. They also said open out and glue out but don't cut in. The reaction of the glue to sisal will do the shrinking if its going to happen. I'm using duralay 650, sticking landings, sticking tread on stairs and staple the riser. Then fit the stairs traditional with gripper. Will fire a few staples into gripper with maestri for extra hold. Things ive never done before but info from the forum .
