Anyone fitted any Machells Period oak flooring from Leeds?, random widths and sculptured surface. I have a customer wanting me to fit 45m2 and says it can be floated or bonded. Cant get any instructions off the website, is it a click or t&g.
Ok looking for some advice now, my customer is pretty keen on me doing this floor now. Been at the weekend to look at it, basically joists in floor with insulation, ufh (water) and a screed overpipes flush with top of joists. Part concrete with screed over level with top of joists, about 50m2. Looking for an underlayment for wood to transmit heat & to improve installation maybe quickstep pro (black). Think I will nail into joists through u/l, dpm screed/concrete & stick that area full bonded. Will be having a fitted kitchen on top of this section, is that wise? Not a big fitter of semisolid wood mainly floating, any advise please.
Ummmm. Has the joists been strengthened for teh extra weight? teh joists have been noched so weakened already. Personally i would be - Plastic dpm sheet Over board with plywood (18mm etc) Fully bond the flooring to the plywood. I presume the product is a Engineered and not a solid?
It's multiply I think, T&G. Customer says it can be floated or stuck /nailed, may cause issues raising 18mm in doorway and fire places etc. what about from joists to solid floor?? Wanting to leave skirts on too.
floating will require a prep still i would of thought (guessing without being there) You will be raising the floor by the product thickness. So lets say you have a 18mm product, well 18mm is not a lot. A carpet will tend to raise a floor by around 16mm + If they was having a LVT the other side of the product then yes you may have a 8-9mm height difference if using a 5.5mm plywood but a easy ramp can be added or lost in a threshold strip. As for skirts? i presume all being replaced so can be trimmed and sat on top? The joist to concrete area, is the concrete the same height as joists? if so then continue the plywood over the concrete area. Needs to be allowed to dry to below 65% rh and then bond the plywood to the subfloor.
Looking for a product here where we can put a membrane under the wood flooring and also benefit the ufh. the customer has it in another house and is wanting me to nail or screw into joist (strengthened). Then direct stick to concrete area. Looking at pallmann p5 for this, what coverage will I get from a 16kg tub and what trowel size/type. would you use tongue tites or I have a spotnailer with coil nails for wood floors?
