Does anybody know off hand how long hydro safety vinyl lasts for (in legal H&S terms) once its been fitted. A nursing home I do a lot of work for have asked me. Most of the wet rooms have been down for over ten years and the manager wants to make sure there all above board on health and safety issues. Gunna speak to polyflor tomorrow . Apparently someone in there said they should be changed every ten years by law. ???
Hydro is good stuff & I'd say 10yrs fitted right no problem but I believe Altro say there gear lasts longer ! I spec altro most of the time
Has it been over 10years since hydro was launched? Anyone else feel like there stuck in a time zone? To be honest what i know about H&S laws there is no time limit on a products suitability as long as its is a good condition. If the dimples have started to wear, tears in the vinyl, split seams, etc, then yes it needs to be changed. But on another note so they should change the floors if they've been down 10 years the tight fisted ......!
I spoke to polyflor yesterday to a guy in technical dept who I know well ( he taught me when I did my NVQs decades ago. in Salford college) . He said for legal purposes the products slip resistance ie pendulum test is only guaranteed as long as the product is guaranteed . So hydro is a ten year guarantee , so that means the slips resistance is too. Might get CFA to do a pendulum test to see if they can prolong the slip resistance . Costs a bit though apparently . I've informed the client so av to see what happens.
