VAT registration

    Anyone vat regsiterd and recommend it? spending quite abit on materials now and just feel like i need to get vat, in my quotes i do materials and labour as one price, whats the deal if i was vat registerd, do i have to write them seperate? do i have to tell the customers?

    just some advice really

    If you go vat registered you have to charge vat on everything.
    Swings and roundabouts, you will be paying an accountant more.
    I've been registered for 9 years. Works okay for me

    If your doing a lot of domestic work the down side is charging VAT on your labour which can make you look more expensive & obviously the customer can't claim it back !

    Domestic, if you can avoid, do it.
    Commercial, most want you registered, to take you seriously.

    I would say, if your not over the limit, don`t bother. Your just another tax collector !

    I definetly wouldn,t recommend it if you don't need to , it's just more money to find every 3 months :(
    And makes you dearer on labour
