I dont fit carpet, only wood and LVT. A company I do some work for has asked me to give them a price for some carpet work. Basically 8 brand new flats. approx 300m2. 2-3 bedrooms each flat. Plus approx 60m2 in communal area's include 5 flights of stairs, with 2x 180 degree winders (dont know if thats the correct terminology) including stair nosings. What sort of prices should i be going in at to fit, including gripper and underlay? Job is in Kent, as I know prices vary depending on locaction Please PM me as i understand this is on an open forum. Thanks Darren
You don't fit carpet & you going to attempt all that ? I wouldn't bother if you want to learn best start of with a nice small box room ! If you hash a carpet its not like LVT or wood & you can just use another piece its f****d
i didnt say i was going to attempt it. I said I need to provide a PRICE, So in order to price it. i need to know how much im going to have to pay someone to do it, if i get the job.
Sorry mate so in that case £2.50 flat & £4.00 for stairs ! But can't see it being worth much to you if your getting someone else to do it + all the nonsense that goes with it ?
I'm not bothered about making anything on the carpet side, they'd just rather use 1 company for the carpet & laminate. Cheers for the info
Carpet isnt like wood, or LVT, waste is more down to the shape of the area to be carpeted, you really need to measure and plan it out of the width of the carpet, generally 4 or 5 mtr. Sometimes the waste could be 5% sometimes 20%, as I said it depends on the areas, pile direction, customers willingness to accept (or not) joins.
You would be better off asking the guy who is going to be fitting it !! That way you know how much its going to cost you. Fitting rate vary, Better to be safe than out of pocket.
