Howdy carpet cutters, I've got a piece of jacaranda ranila to fit in a large hallway next week which has a join in the width right down the middle. I've probably fitted a dozen of this type of carpet in 16years. What I'd like is some pointers on cutting and seaming said carpet, should I use invisaseamer, run a row finder and cut between, straight edge down the back or just overlap, hack and spray. I'm sure the ranila is the cut and loop style carpet, any pointers would be appreciated as this one hall is about 4grands worth.
    many thank yous.

Was rpthinking that myself but The only problem with running the row is that this type of carpet has lines of tufts in one direction and Berber loops running the other. I take it they must be individual loops and not continuous?

You best check it can be seamed mate! Some of them fall apart. Also some are not very straight when you put a row finder through them. Row finder probably be best if its straight or a straight edge from the back.

Jacaranda ranila isn't recommended for high traffic areas like hallways I put some one off having in a hallway a couple of months ago

Good luck with that seam mate,i've done quite a bit of their stuff, and the ones that have the lines like yours are a nightmare.
I've tried cutting with straight edge from the back, the problem you will have is matching the lines up.
It is hand woven and the lines are all different thickness, sometimes you get lucky

Job today, bought the hsl off me +1 room, asked if I could fit a landing and bedroom(45sq) in a carpet they had already ordered. Said I would, asked what it was, they said just normal carpet, prepped it, then carpet turned up 9x5 Jacaranda s'thing or other, weighed a ton, had only single grippered when prepping, nightmare.

Thanks for the info guys, I'll take it on board and put it in use. The job itself I'm only doing the installation, the suitability of the carpet for the area being fitted should have been explained by the seller. It's the usual problem of sales guys not knowing what there selling.

Did part 2 of the job today, another room in Jacaranda that I had stuck the gripper down on Wednesday, Stonking heavy velvet/saxony? but a dream to fit, wish I knew the names of the 2 different ones so at least I could avoid if one came up in the future:D

Usually double stick this carpet but gripper round the room to give a neat finish. As for joining pull a loop through from one end to the other and repeat on join side making sure of the pattern match before you begin pulling the join side!
