Hi all, I went on Sunday this year, wandered round, met with my suppliers, there was bikini clad babes!!! not sure why. Met a few old faces and was outside getting a chilli dog within 3 hours!! Your thoughts....?

Blimey, you lasted an hour longer than me. Definitely not aimed at fitters.

First time I've been finished work early Monday walked round in under a hour nothing special in my opinion I'd be gutted if a drove a distance to get there.

Had tickets for Harrogate, mulled it over all weekend but in the end I think I made the right choice in not doing the 450 mile round trip...would like to go at some point though as promised myself the last few years that I would go.

Was there anything relevant to wooden floors, tools etc?

It all depends on what you wanted out of it. Personally I picked up some good bits and made a few contacts which is what is all about IMO. Plus had a good laugh and a few beers with other fitters and reps.

    Work hard, play hard.

If you have been going for years you will realise that it has reduced in footfall and the amount of stalls are less but i always try to pick out the positives ie its a great place to get discounts as EXAKT were offering their cutters at giveaway prices.JANSER selling two Dolphin knives for 15 quid is a CUT but everyone is enthusiastic as usual and as iam getting older iam feeling that easyfitting is the way forward so its onward with CLICK LVTs for me.

Floorskills open day next year is the way forward for installers. Next year I hope the floorskikls show will be twice the size.
Floorskills open day is fir fitters, harrogate is more a retailers show

I think shows like this are what you make of them. I've been going for the past 16 years and always find something positive, be it meeting with the different/new companies or other guys in the trade. I think if we're in the trade then we should support events like this as much as possible.

If people don't, attendance is reduced and exhibitors stop exhibiting then people complain there is no showcase for products.

The show being open on Sunday does provide more opportunity to attend and also free parking and a free lunch.

    End of promotional advert!!!

Well said John. FloorSkills should be returning to Harrogate next year again but with a much larger stand than we had this year. More like last years with demos etc. Sadly i was not available to attend this year so hence we had a small stand with no demos etc.

It's quality not quantity....for information Abingdon had a record breaking roll sales at Harrogate this year !! Food for thought.

Not that long ago they used to have an entire hall for laminate & wood at Harrogate Show, not anymore even quickstep were showing LVT this year. Poor turnout for tools this year, freebies ect.
