What I've found when people have used ring shank is they sometimes work their way up and the heads become visible.
That sounds like they have missed the subfloor, Ive not seen that problem either. I find 20mm screws dont bite into 6mm ply enough, had to use 25mm and yes I was waiting for the burst pipe all day!!
old floorboards are ok as long as they've not been sanded a couple of times before someone decides to cover it up...lol
Did some last year borrowed my builder mates driver with collated dry wall screws had to go through 2 x 9mm sheets to save time. worked a treet, no snapping.
We have a new piece of kit on the way screw fed on a plastic strip used from a standing position no loading screw one at a time, tried it in the unit it brill.
is thaqt the walking sticking looking thing? Seen it in action at harrogate. Great idea in practice But a good bit slower in reality, Yes i use mine like a machine gun lol
something similar to this.... http://www.makitauk.com/product/fastening/autofeed-screwdrivers/6843-auto-feed-screwdriver.html
I've seen those & had a go IMO a nail gun is far better & quicker ! These where first brought out as a dry lining tool
trying to find proper wood screws for those things is a right proper pita. I know, had my auto feed for last 7+yrs
