Amtico strips come cut square so I cut the width as I go with a straight but anoys me how you just can't seen to get 3 out of each strip on 12" tiles ?
With the Karndean strips I cut all the tags of first with a straight & keep waste to the outside of my knife hand so there cut on a slight shanfer. Sometimes cut the widths down to if I'm waiting for stuff to dry or glue going off but cut them ever so slight big so there not short.
If I had a guilly I'd cut them with a guilly but Mikes right you do get quicker with time just like anything !
