Hi all. Looking for some advice on which adhesive to use on the cove for safetred universal. I've used F60 religiously for all my cap and cove work until recently when I got caught out and used F60 for polysafe Modena resulting in a nice ill luminous yellow cove in every area. I'm now alot more inclined to look at the RAG before I fit anything. They recommend F66 for safetred however after today's performance I have been put off F66 for life the drying time is ridiculous even with a heat gun and when it did eventually go off there was very little tack there at all . I may aswell have used blue tac. Are there any experienced fitters that have used F60 on safetred without problems or are there any alternatives out there that I could use. Thanks in advance.

You'll be fine using F60 on safe tread !
That Modena has a funny backing bit like cushion floor & its turned yellow from the solvents in the F60 like if you used it on cushion floor !

Thanks for the help. I thought it would be ok it's just a PVC backing isn't it I suppose it's similar to sticking sit on skirting etc. Just wanted to hear from somebody with a bit more experience didnt want any yellow coves again lol school boy error ! Thanks again

I had major difficulties with it today perhaps it was something I was doing wrong but it wasn't sticking at all . It probably doesn't help that it's on a site with no heating so it's probably not much over 5 degrees at times . I applied it the same as I would f60 but had no joy at all

Is it true that f60 will be banned soonish? My boss said yesterday that within the next year they were taking it off the market?

It's been banned in Europe for the past ten years mate. Only us daft sods who use it. If you knew how bad it is for health you would not use it. I've not used it in donkeys years and even then wore a resp mask. It is actually banned in most public places anyway which says a lot try getting it passed on a COSHH !!! No chance the h and s rep will laugh at yer and give you a lesson in carcinogens and how bad it is !!

I sprayed down a few felt back carpets today. When we got to the last one they had uplifted self adhesive vinyl tiles and the whole floor was tacky as hell. I don't know if it was all the spray but I was crying with laughter trying to walk around in that room. Trying to pull out a 6.5 x 4m felt back on it....I was in stitches...even the customer was cracking up!

F66 you need to put on thick ive found, but it isnt as strong and takes an age to tack off, has its purposes though.
