My mate does it if he's got a load to stick. Haven't tried it myself

On occasions where my hot melt gun has packed in during the middle of sticking gripper, a method I have used to finish the prep without a trip to the suppliers, is to adhesive spray both the floor and the back of the gripper, then attach double sided tape to each, and then place the gripper. The application of tape to both the gripper and floor grabs much more securely than attempting to use just one layer of tape.

I would think that this new tape from America would definitely require the sub floor to be spray sealed.

Coolevilangels comments remind me of something else I often do. If I have say a 4.10 wide room and a 5.00 wide tufted carpet, I sometimes take my wood saw and cut right through, removing the waste from the width in a neat chunk while it is still wrapped up. This can help if access is a problem and I don't want to unroll and bend it. I wouldn't try it on a loop pile though. When someone sees it for the first time they think you have lost your sanity.

Haha, done that a few times. Already hanging out the back of the van so easy to chop a bit off.

Rolls of vinyl get the hand saw quite often even better when doing a fit only and customer has a 4m wide for a 3 m wide kitchen there face is great when you get the saw out still alot easier than fighting with the extea material

Lol...yes it's a good idea to look at the end of the roll and make sure the carpet is rolled up straight

i know someone who did it with a loop pile carpet. It was a 4x4 and for some reason it was rolled the wrong way. Sure you can imagine what the carpet looked like when it was unrolled.
