Evening chaps. Just been to do a measures on a brand new Wainhomes plot. The subfloor was really quite smooth and a darker grey colour. Just worried about it. It seems solid enough though. Could it be anhydrite screed as I've never really come across it yet. I spoke to the saleswoman an she said one of the show homes had to have something taken of the floor before it could have karndean put down. That could of just been a bad buider screed though. Sale woman is going to ask the site manage for me tomoz but have you guys had any dealings with Wainhomes?
If it is Gyvlon, then it would have to have the latients ground off, so kind of makes sense. Its not normally dark though. Its normally a light, almost chalky appearance. Were seeing it more and more in new builds. Is there underfloor heating ?
Waiting for contact tomoz. Only went today to measure. Tested areas with protimeter and was coming up green. Buyer has not completed yet so not going to leave box on floor for builders to walk on. Just wanted to know if anyone had experience with Wainhomes and their subfloors and if ya had any ideas.
Yeah so was the one that I tested but it was in the 90% when I put a hygrometer down! If its hemihydrate you don't need to grind the surface at least!
If its a Devon/Cornwall site it will be anhydrite be very carefull as most are not dryed out ! You must be unlucky as most of the floors are timber !
does sound like hemi on anyhy as Merit said. Sounds very wet also. Dont be fooled by builders and manufacturers spec's saying it dries faster than concrete. Ye it does IF THE RH OF THE HOUSE IS LOW. As a new build it wont be low. If RH in the air is high the stuff simply dont dry !
Got this text from sales woman whom had it txtd through from site manager. "Its a concrete slab thats water based. You will need to use a vynal screed with a dpm barrier "
