Does anyone out there fit their underlay across the width of the carpet as standard practice rather than the same way as the length of the carpet?
Anyone know what BS5325 says on the matter?
I was always of the assumption that length stretching of the carpet can compromise the underlay joins to curl or part, and that placing the underlay at right angles to the carpet was bad practice.

Right angles to the floor boards takes priority and then right angle to the length with the joins taped to stop movement

    Same as Simmo !

Joins in the underlay curling up & parting ?
How can that happen when there taped together with duck tape ? ;-)

What ever way is easiest. Its stapled or stuck, so what difference would it make.
    Never had a problem
