Normally get a potting tray for plants come in all different sizes from bnq cheap, fill it with water and every time you roll dip it in the potting tray keeps it clean while using it.;)

    Great idea that
painters rectangle pot to clean it
Also be good if you can do the two spiked length version
I always prefer using my deep spiked roller compared to the 11mm one

I tend to use a wire brush across the spikes, seems to work fairly well without distorting the straightness of the spikes.

I use a long plastic bedding plant tray half filled with water like nemo and dip and clean the roller every few rolls

In the past when the roller spikes are clogged up i blast them with WD40 leave it to soak in overnight then jet wash them clean the next day

I can get that type made but need to order 500 of them... They're happy to make me a sample to try, but everybodies opinion is going to differ and I probably don't do enough screeds to see if it's capable of the job...

When I'm screeding I always have a flexy tub of water near the door I'm working out off. I spin my driil in it when I'm done mixing & I drop my roller & trowel in when I'm done with them ! Most of the screed just runs off & then brush the rest off or blast it with my hose with spray gun if there's an out side tap !

Like nothing gets washed down there when it rains! What an old ****. As long as it's not got screed in the bottom I always chuck the water down the drain

Yep I pour the dirty water down a drain never had anyone say anything yet but it bound to happen one day ?
Any screed left I look for something to pour it in to like a builders or plasters bucket lol

Update on the original post: I've been doing a few screeds recently on my own and found I was getting roller marks at the end of the strokes I didn't get before. The difference was I was rolling faster to get to the next mix and when I slowed down they didn't appear. My theory is when you roll forwards quickly you create a slight wave in front of the roller with the wet screed and when you stop abruptly the wave continues causing a mark where it stops. So the answer is to roll slower or slow up towards the end of the stroke.

Mate you can roll fast if spikes are clean and screed is flowing nice, no problem. Once you get even a small build on your spikes you start getting stop marks. Add to that the effect of a thicker mix and you end up with stop marks defo. Keep ya mix nice and spikes clean and you will be fine .
